Education is the foundation for success in any child’s life and like so many things that have changed during the course of last year, remote learning has been challenging for many families during the pandemic.  For some families, their children didn’t have a desk or a space to do their schoolwork.  It’s one thing to do your homework for an hour after school at the kitchen table, but quite different to try and do a full day’s remote learning for months on end at the kitchen table.  Having a space of their own creates a positive learning environment for children.

As part of a church outreach mission project, Phil Frye of CAVCON, Don Scott, and a team of individuals developed a prototype and built desks for kids.  To date, 36 desks have been distributed to these organizations BBBS, CASA, and Club Crossroads who in turn have given the desks to needy families their respective organizations serve. The project doesn’t end here – there are an additional 20 desks in the pipeline that will be sent to families in need.

Here’s a note from one of the organizations that received the desks:

“We cannot thank you enough for your time, commitment, generosity, and talent. We know the children who received the desks and we absolutely know what a big difference it will make for them. We have already heard from a few of the parents regarding what a help it is.”
